BitTorrent is a file sharing (or content distribution) system that enables software distribution of very large files, such as movies, by enabling users i.e. the people downloading the file to become redistribution points for the files. In other words the person downloading the file, in turn redistributes the file to other users. So, with BitTorrent, instead of downloading to each customer the original distributor sends it to one customer who, in turn, sends it to other customers. Users share pieces of the download back and forth until everyone has the full download. In this way it possible for the original server to handle many requests for large files without needing immense amounts of bandwidth.

Social bookmarking is a method for Internet users to store, organize, search, manage and, very importantly, share their favourite web pages with others. Social bookmarking web sites are where users save links to the web pages that they want to remember and/or share with others. These links or bookmarks are usually public but you can often have the option of saving them privately or sharing them with selected people.
Most social bookmark services encourage users to organize their bookmarks with tags instead of folders, these tags are then categorised. Many social bookmarking services provide web feeds (RSS) for their lists of bookmarks, including lists organized by tags. This allows subscribers to become aware of new bookmarks as they are added.
Social bookmarking services often allow ratings and comments on bookmarks plus the ability of users to import and export bookmarks.
