Social Bookmarking
What is Social Bookmarking?
On your web browser you, more than likely, have a button that allows you to bookmark or take note of your favourite web sites and web pages. Social Bookmarking is very similar but linking is done online, instead of using your browser. Because these bookmarks, or links to your most loved websites are available to the public it is known as social bookmarking.
There are a whole load of social bookmarking sites, for a fairly comprehensive list click here. You can open up an account on these sites and place links back to your website and to internal pages within your website. In this way you can, fairly quickly, build backlinks.
Getting backlinks to internal pages within your website is known as deep linking and if done correctly can get those pages ranked high in Google and other search engines. Submitting multiple pages to numerous bookmarking services on a regular basis becomes tedious and boring but are several services and pieces of software that can automate the process or take the task off your hands altogether.
